  4. to prove or disprove facts at issue in the 
  5. case. Witnesses must swear or affirm that 
  6. their evidence is true. In English law, 
  7. giving false evidence is the crime of 
  8. perjury. Documentary evidence has a wide 
  9. scope including maps, soundtracks, and films, 
  10. in addition to documents in writing. Objects
  11. such as weapons used in crimes may serve as
  12. evidence.
